CP KATE - Carpe Diem Sculpture

$2,200.00 USD

CP KATE - 'Carpe Diem' from the Beyond Baroque collection, an old-world feel rich in patina, with a contemporary twist. This piece contributes to the narrative of Marie Antoinette's "Last Supper". In this case a "bass", not exactly a fashionable poisson but a meal, nonetheless.  The fish is molded from the kitschy wall mounted variety hanging in my husband's garage, sadly the original was destroyed during the molding process, sorry, not sorry! I did manage to find a replacement.  Once molded the fish was cast in hand-dyed plaster before being affixed to Marie's head. The plaster is dyed a deep charcoal, sealed and finished in museum wax giving the work a bit of lustre.

Please note this piece reflects natural variations and striations in color and lustre due to its handcrafted nature.

Constructed from multiple molds hand cast individually then assembled into a final work and signed with the CP KATE logo.  A small peace sign is incorporated into each work as it's a symbol that resonates.
