History often remembers rulers, monuments, and great events. Yet the things that quietly shape our lives are often far more ordinary: the songs we sing, the meals we share, the rituals we repeat, and the traditions we pass from one generation to the next.
In What We Carry, a classical figure balances a swan-shaped gourd alongside a violin—objects that speak to nourishment, celebration, music, and memory. Together, they suggest that culture is not preserved by history alone, but carried forward through the experiences we share and the traditions we continue.
Blending historical form with familiar symbols of everyday life, the sculpture invites us to reconsider what becomes part of our collective memory—and what we choose to carry into the future.
