CP KATE - Born This Way - 'don't be a drag, be a queen'
This bold contemporary piece transforms the 'monumental severity' of Queen Victoria into a celebration of self-expression. The pink party hat, the legendary lyrics juxtaposed against the staid expression of a neo-classical queen. She's a bit coquettish.
My sculptures are about visual contrast, objects that inspire wonder, curiosity and spark conversation.
Constructed from multiple molds hand and rotationally cast, assembled into a final work and signed with the CP KATE logo. A small peace sign is incorporated into each work as it's a symbol that resonates.
