A Matter of Taste

$2,400.00 USD

Some things nourish the body. Others nourish a life.

Some of my favorite memories of the 1990's were made around a table at Seattle's iconic Pink Door restaurant in Post Alley. It wasn't just the food that drew me back—it was the feeling. The ritual of lingering over dinner, the glow of candlelight, the theater of a beautifully prepared meal, and the sense that ordinary evenings could become unforgettable.

A Matter of Taste grew out of those memories.

A classical bust supports a crown of Pacific crab and a gilded citrus slice, transforming the ingredients of a shared meal into symbols of abundance, celebration, and longing. Cast almost entirely in white, the sculpture strips away distraction, allowing texture, form, and a single note of gold to carry the narrative.

The title speaks to more than food. It asks us to consider taste as instinct, discernment, memory, and identity—the invisible forces that shape what we cherish and what we choose to keep.
